Global Director of Communications & Media
Lead GASWT's public voice — social media, press, publications and brand.
About this role
In addition to the requirements above, candidates shall demonstrate good character, professional integrity, leadership capacity, commitment to GASWT's objectives and values, availability to perform the responsibilities of the office, and willingness to comply with GASWT's Constitution, Code of Ethics, safeguarding requirements and conflict-of-interest provisions.
This position is initially voluntary and unpaid. Appointment does not create an automatic entitlement to salary or honorarium, though GASWT may reimburse reasonable, properly documented expenses. As GASWT develops its financial capacity, the Council may develop a formal compensation framework, subject to the Constitution.
Responsibilities
- Lead GASWT's communications strategy across social media, press and publications
- Maintain a consistent brand and public identity across the alliance
- Coordinate communications volunteers and country-chapter communications leads
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mass Communication, Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Media Studies, Marketing, International Relations, Social Sciences or a related field
- Minimum of 3–5 years of relevant experience in communications, media, journalism, public relations, digital communications, advocacy or a related field
- Demonstrated experience developing and implementing communication strategies
- Experience managing organizational social media, websites, newsletters, campaigns or other public communication platforms
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to coordinate communications teams across different countries and time zones
Preferred experience
- A Master's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Media, Development Studies or a related discipline is an advantage but not mandatory
- Experience leading or coordinating a communications/media team is desirable
- Knowledge of photography, videography, graphic design or multimedia production is an advantage
