About this role

Open worldwide. Candidates with demonstrated experience managing international, multicultural or geographically distributed communities are strongly encouraged.

All Global Executive Council candidates must: Demonstrate good character, professional integrity and sound judgment; Demonstrate leadership capacity appropriate to the office; Demonstrate commitment to the mission, objectives and values of GASWT; Be capable of working effectively across cultures, countries and time zones; Possess strong professional communication and interpersonal skills; Be available to perform the responsibilities of the office; Comply with the GASWT Constitution, Code of Ethics, safeguarding requirements, conflict-of-interest provisions and approved organizational policies; Demonstrate respect for diversity, inclusion, accessibility, human rights and ethical technology; Have no undisclosed conflict of interest that would materially affect the performance of the office; Provide verifiable academic, professional and leadership credentials where requested.

This position is initially voluntary and unpaid. Appointment does not, by itself, create an automatic entitlement to salary, honorarium, allowance or other personal financial compensation. Subject to available funds and approved financial policies, GASWT may reimburse reasonable and properly documented expenses incurred in the legitimate performance of official duties. As GASWT develops its financial capacity, the appropriate governing authority may establish a formal compensation framework.

Requirements

  • Minimum: Bachelor's degree in Social Sciences, Management, Communications, Community Development, Marketing, Development Studies, Organizational Development or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant professional experience.
  • Minimum 3 years of leadership or community/network management experience.
  • Demonstrated experience recruiting, engaging and retaining members, volunteers or professional networks.
  • Experience managing communities through digital platforms.
  • Experience developing membership engagement strategies.
  • Ability to coordinate people across countries, cultures and time zones.
  • Experience developing volunteer structures.
  • Strong interpersonal and community-building skills.

Preferred experience

  • PhD/Doctorate is an advantage but not mandatory.
  • Professional association experience.
  • International NGO experience.
  • International volunteer-network experience.
  • Digital community management.
  • Membership-system development.
  • Global network coordination.
