Regional Representative — Africa

Regional coordination and representation officer for GASWT across Africa.

About this role

Kenya is the preferred initial base for the Africa Regional Representative. However, qualified professionals from other African countries may also be considered.

Preferred Regional Base: Kenya 🇰🇪

All Regional Representatives must: Demonstrate good character and professional integrity; Have strong leadership and interpersonal skills; Be committed to GASWT's mission and values; Be capable of representing GASWT professionally; Be able to work across different cultures and time zones; Have sufficient availability to perform regional responsibilities; Comply with the GASWT Constitution and Code of Ethics; Demonstrate commitment to inclusion, accessibility, social justice and responsible technology; Be able to communicate effectively with the Global Executive Council; Be willing to coordinate regional volunteers, members, partners and programmes.

A Regional Representative is not simply a country representative — the role coordinates GASWT's work and its country representatives across the whole region.

Requirements

  • Minimum Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Development Studies, International Relations, Public Administration, Social Sciences, Community Development, Technology, Public Health or another relevant discipline.
  • Master's degree preferred, particularly in Social Work, Development Studies, International Development, Public Policy, Technology, Social Innovation or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant professional experience.
  • Minimum 3 years of demonstrated leadership, programme coordination, community engagement or organizational experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of social development and social-impact issues within Africa.
  • Experience working with NGOs, universities, professional associations, governments, technology organizations, foundations or community-based organizations.
  • Ability to coordinate GASWT activities across multiple African countries.
  • Demonstrated ability to build partnerships and professional networks.
  • Strong understanding of cultural diversity across African countries.

Preferred experience

  • Experience working across East, West, Central, North or Southern Africa.
  • Existing professional networks within African social work, technology, research, development or civil-society communities.
  • Experience with international organizations or multinational programmes.
  • Experience coordinating volunteers or professional networks.
